Long Roll Miller Park

Bowls Australia, working alongside World Bowls, Bowls NSW and Bowls Queensland, is rolling out “Bowls for Brisbane – The Long Roll”, a major interstate showcase stretching from Sydney to Brisbane, covering more than 1,000 kilometres and visiting 32 clubs along the way.

This initiative forms part of a broader national push to see lawn bowls included in the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games. It is about putting our sport front and centre and showing exactly what it brings to communities right across the country.

At each stop, a round of a single match will be played, with Team Australia taking on a Rest of the World side. The result will ultimately be decided in Brisbane, bringing the whole journey together.

What this event does is shine a light on the strength of our clubs, the diversity of our players, and the global reach of lawn bowls. It is about recognising the role clubs play as the backbone of the sport and the communities they serve.

The Long Roll will come through Miller Park Bowling Club on Sunday 3 May, where we will host a round of the match and connect with members and the local community. It will be a great opportunity to showcase what the club is all about and be part of something bigger for the future of the game.

I’d like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we meet today. I would also like to pay my respects to Elders past and present and future custodians and Elders of the nation.
