Singleton’s sporting future kicks into gear with Alroy Oval completion

The $8.17 million redevelopment of Alroy Oval Sports Precinct has kicked off a new chapter for community sport in Singleton, officially opened at a special event

with the community this morning and delivering a world-class facility that will score big for local players and families for years to come.

The upgraded precinct features three full-sized irrigated football fields, a modern gender-neutral amenities building, enhanced lighting, new footpaths, and improved parking — all designed to create a safe, accessible, and inclusive environment that encourages participation from people of all ages and abilities.

The project was made possible through a $3 million Australian Government Investing In Our Communities grant, a $2 million NSW Government Level the Playing Field grant, and Singleton Council loan funding.

The major upgrade to Alroy Oval is the culmination of the Alroy Oval Masterplan adopted by Singleton Council in 2021, which aims to create a premier recreational sports hub for Singleton Heights. The precinct now includes two upgraded football fields and a brand-new third field, all equipped with advanced irrigation systems to ensure year-round quality playing surfaces.

The modern amenities building has been thoughtfully designed with a focus on gender neutrality and accessibility, including private shower cubicles, mirrors, and power points to support the increasing participation of women and girls in organised sport.

Upgrades to lighting, footpaths, and car parking enhance safety and accessibility, particularly during evening training and community events. The precinct also builds on earlier improvements such as a full-sized public basketball court and a soccer-themed playground, creating a vibrant multi-sport environment for the community.
