CESSNOCK CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING OF NEW

2.2m Cessnock Regional Skatepark at Mount View Park alongside Federal Member for Hunter Daniel Repacholi MP, marking the launch of the region's first dedicated, regional-level skate facility.

The completed project delivers a state-of-the-art skatepark designed to offer local skaters and wheeled sports enthusiasts a world-class space to develop their skills and engage in physical activity.

The new facility will foster positive social and health outcomes, providing opportunities for both recreational and competitive participants.

Cessnock City Mayor Dan Watton said he is pleased to see the opening of the new skatepark facility.
"It's fantastic to see a regional level facility like his brought to life right here in Cessnock," said Clr Watton.
"Sports infrastructure plays a critical role in promoting community health, physical activity, and connection, and this skatepark will allow more people to take part in sport, whether they're training competitively or just for fun."

"This project is a significant addition to our area, and I look forward to seeing people of all ages enjoying it - including my own family!"

Federal Member for Hunter Dan Repacholi MP expressed his enthusiasm at the opening of the new facility.
"This skatepark is a fantastic addition to Cessnock, providing a world-class space for skaters of all ages to enjoy. It's projects like this that bring our communities together and encourage healthy, active lifestyles," said Mr Repacholi.

"The Federal Government is proud to have contributed $1,000,000 as part of an election commitment to help make this project a reality. I'm thrilled to see it come to life and can't wait to see how it benefits the region."
Along with Council contributions, this project was made possible thanks to grant funding from the Australian Government's Investing in Our Communities program.

Mayor Watton also thanked local partners, including Grundy's Skateboarding and Hunter and Lake Mac Ice-creams for supporting the community opening.
