$1.6 million in STEM Sponsorship Grants Now Open
Schools and organisations across Australia can now apply for a share of $1.6 million in Sponsorship Grants to support student participation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) activities.
Opening on 19 March and closing on 8 April 2026, these grants are designed to help more young Australians access valuable STEM experiences, whether that’s local competitions, national events or international opportunities. Both in-person and virtual activities are eligible.
A strong focus of this program is ensuring students from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds are supported. Applications will consider a school’s Index of Community Socio-educational Advantage (ICSEA), helping direct funding to those who need it most.
Funding is available across two streams:
Stream 1: At least $1 million to support students from schools with an ICSEA of 1000 or below to participate in STEM events and competitions in Australia or internationally.
Stream 2: Up to $600,000 to support students from schools of any ICSEA value to compete in STEM competitions overseas.
Applicants can apply for up to $40,000 across both streams.
After applications close, funding will be allocated starting with schools with the lowest ICSEA values, ensuring equitable access to opportunities.
This is a great opportunity to back the next generation of scientists, engineers and innovators especially those who might otherwise miss out.
